Loaded firearm found in Maloney

Police have found in loaded gun during an exercise in Maloney.

A statement by the Police Service says that an Operation Strike Back exercise was conducted in the Northern Division yesterday, which resulted in several search warrants being executed and a loaded firearm being found.

The exercise, which was carried out on Sunday, was coordinated by ACP McDonald Jacob, spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Curtis Paul, included officers of the Northern Division Task Force East and Canine Unit.

During the searches, officers found one Tanfoglio pistol loaded with four rounds of 9mm ammunition along 18 grammes of marijuana, hidden under a staircase of an apartment building within the Maloney Gardens’ apartment complex.

Police say that their investigations are ongoing.
