21-year-old man charged with murder of councillor's sister

A 21-year-old Cunupia man appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate yesterday, charged with the murder of Margaret Mills and the attempted murder of her daughter-in-law, Roshni Mills, which occurred on Thursday 22nd June, 2017.

Prentice Daniel Creg, a mechanic, of Jerningham Junction, Cunupia, appeared before Senior Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor, in the Chaguanas 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday 28th June, 2017, to answer to the charges, which also included, robbery with aggravation.

The matter was adjourned to Wednesday 26th July, 2017. Margaret Mills, 61, of Ravine Sable Road, Longdenville, and Roshini Mills, 25, of the same address, were at their home on Thursday 22nd June, 2017, when a man armed with a knife entered and announced a holdup.

The assailant proceeded to stab the two women about their bodies, before escaping with a quantity of jewellery.

The victims were taken to the Eric Williams’ Medical Sciences Complex, where Margaret died.

Creg, was charged by Cpl (Ag.), Andy Gordon of the Homicide Region 3, after advice was received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on Tuesday 27th June, 2017.
