A security guard has been shot and killed in Couva.

Reports indicate that shortly after 8pm last evening, 23-year-old Anslem Alleyne was walking along Lisas Boulevard in Couva when he was ambushed by a gunman.

Residents of the area reported hearing several loud explosions.

Upon checking they discovered Alleyne's body lying in a pool of blood.

The police and an ambulance were called in and the victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the district hospital.
