A Laventille man who was captured on CCTV footage robbing a 26-year-old woman in Woodbrook on Wednesday 7th March, 2018 while her infant son looked on, has been sentenced to 30 months’ hard labour by a Port of Spain Magistrate, after pleading guilty to a charge of robbery with violence.
Peter Hunte, 18, of Plum Trace, Picton Road, Laventille, stood before Port of Spain Magistrate Cheron Raphael on Tuesday to answer to the charge.
The accused had first appeared before Magistrate Raphael on Thursday 15th March, 2018, and the matter postponed to today for sentencing.
The victim and her son were walking along Gallus Street, Woodbrook, around 3:30 pm on Wednesday 7th March, 2018, when they were approached by a man who announced a robbery.
The man proceeded to rob the victim of a gold chain valued at $500.
The man also dealt the woman several blows about the body, before escaping.
Hunte was charged by WPC Monique Hosein, of the Port of Spain Criminal Investigations Department, on Wednesday 14th March, 2018.
