63-year-old man perishes in Point Fortin fire

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of a blaze which claimed the life of a 63-year-old man.

Reports indicate that around 3pm on Monday, the Point Fortin Fire Service responded to a fire at a home located on Ibis Street, Fanny Village, Point Fortin.

The officers managed to extinguish the flame.

However, while going through the burnt debris, they discovered the partially charred remains of a man.

He was later identified as Ned Fortune.

Neighbours say they did not notice anything unusual.

Investigations are ongoing.
