Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith promoted 83 police officers; 57 officers to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and 26 officers to the rank of Inspector of Police.
Promotions took place at a ceremony held in the Solomon McLeod Lecture Theatre, Police Administration Building, Port of Spain, yesterday.
Addressing the ceremony, Commissioner Griffith declared that 2019 is going to be an important year for the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), with an increased focus on Customer Service Relations and Community Policing training for officers.
Commissioner Griffith said, “I want to see improved relations between officers and the communities they patrol, as such interactions will ensure that future generations do not fall into a life of crime.” He stated that the additional training which will be provided for the officers will ensure they continue to serve citizens with P.R.I.D.E.
Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association President, ASP (Ag.) Michael Seales, who delivered remarks at the ceremony, congratulated the officers saying, “I want you to be the officer you want your families to meet on a daily basis.”
He also urged them to continue to effect positive change within the TTPS from their new ranks.
Promotions were witnessed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ag.) Crime and Support, Harold Phillip, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ag.) Operations, Deodat Dulalchan, who congratulated the officers after they were presented with their letters of promotion by Commissioner Griffith.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, (Ag.) Administration Erla Christopher, chaired the ceremony.
