One of this country's most recognised actresses, Shirley “Beulah” King has died.
Her death comes just one week after her husband passed.
News of her passing was released just after 11 am Monday.
King acted in several local productions in a career that spanned 40 years.
She was born in 1942 at Point Fortin but spent most of her childhood in Chaguanas.
She was also a teacher.
King received the Hummingbird medal (silver) in 1998 and she was also presented with the Cacique Lifetime Achievement Award.
King had made a public appeal earlier this year for financial assistance to help her rebuild her home which was destroyed in a fire in November 2015.
Since May, she had been living in temporary accommodations at Wharton Street, Enterprise, a place provided with the assistance of the State.
