British nationals warned of possible terrorist attack during Carnival celebrations

 British nationals are being advised to remain vigilant and avoid large crowds and gatherings in light of the recent threat of terrorist attacks during this year's carnival celebrations.

According to an updated post on the website, gov.uk says terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Trinidad and Tobago, the authorities have arrested some individuals who planned to carry out attacks against carnival, an attack is still possible; the Trinidad and Tobago government are increasing security measures for the carnival.

Despite stating that over 30,000 british nationals visit trinidad and tobago every year trouble-free, the advisory added there were high levels of violent crime in trinidad, including murder, especially in parts of the capital port of spain.

It cited that a British national was murdered after being robbed at gunpoint in the Mt D’or area of Mt Hope in Trinidad back in 2016.
