A 50-year-old Cocorite man was killed this morning in a freak accident on a boat in the Gulf of Paria.

He has been identified as Ronald Christopher Hill of Freedom Street, Cocorite.

Reports indicate that around 9.50 this morning, Hill was on his boat in the Gulf when a large wave caused him to be thrown into the water.

However, the seasoned fisherman fell behind the boat where his head came into contact with the propeller, causing him fatal injuries.

Members of the Coast Guard recovered Hill's body and police of the Western Division continuing inquiries.
