They were threatened with disciplinary action if they failed to work for Carnival, but today they are being rewarded for making it one of the safest events in history.
The Police Service has authorized four days gratuitous leave to each police officer who performed duties on both Carnival Monday and Tuesday.
And for special reserve officers who came out?
Well, they're getting four days extra pay.
The announcement was made in an official document dated March 11th signed by the Commissioner of Police.
The commissioner explained that he was grateful for the efforts of the officers whose commitment and dedication ensured a safe environment for Carnival.
He also instructed senior superintendents to ensure that officers who were absent are not granted such leave.
