Rio Claro police are hoping to identify a badly decomposed body found in a river on Sunday.
According to a report, the body was discovered by a gardener around 11.30 am off Dades Trace, Tabaquite Road.
The gardener contacted the police and a party of officers led by Insp Garcia and including PC Ali, PC Wilkinson and PC Charles responded and trekked 100 feet off the roadway.
They noticed the body lying on its back in the water with both feet on the river bank.
It was clad only in grey underwear.
The decomposition was so bad that investigators could not identify the ethnicity, gender or determine whether there were any marks of violence on the body.
Crime scene investigators scoured the area for evidence but came out empty-handed.
The body was taken to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy.
Officers from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Two also visited the scene.
