Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly has announced a decision by Cabinet to honour Calypso Rose for her recent international achievement.
The veteran calypsonian won the World Album of the Year award at the Victoire de la Musique award ceremony in France two weeks ago.
The award is considered the French equivalent of a Grammy award.
Speaking at today's post-Cabinet media briefing, Minister Gadsby-Dolly said the Cabinet has decided that Calypso Rose will receive diplomatic passport and that, with her permission, an airline in the Caribbean Airlines fleet will be named after her.
Calypso Rose became the first artist from Trinidad and Tobago to have an album, "Far From Home" go gold (50,000 copies sold).
Calypso Rose was also awarded the 2016 Artist Award by the World Music Expo (WOMEX).
