Fire officers are calling on law makers to amend The Explosives Act, the legislation which governs the use, sale and distribution of fireworks in trinidad and tobago.
President of the fire officers association Leo Ramkissoon described the 100 year old act as archaic and ineffective.
Ramkissoon says under the current law police are charged with the responsibility of enforcing the regulations and laws, but he pointed out each year fire officers who are trained to handle explosives witness the flagrant disregard  some citizens have for the law.
