Four men were arrested by Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) officers, just minutes after robbing a 30-year-old St. James man on Tuesday, police said in a statement.
Reports are that at 7:45 pm, the victim was walking along Hyderabad Street, St. James, when he was confronted by three men; one of whom was armed with a firearm.
The men announced a robbery and proceeded to beat the victim about his body, and steal a quantity of cash and two cellphones, before fleeing in a silver Nissan Tiida vehicle.
The victim made a report to the police via 999, which resulted in ERP officers intercepting the suspects in the Port of Spain district.
The stolen phones and cash were recovered, while all four suspects, aged 30 to 36 years, were taken to the St. James Police Station, for further enquiries.
