'Hot Dog' from Trincity charged with gun, ammunition possession

A Trincity man is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate on Monday 18th June, 2018, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Jamal Walcott, aka ‘Hot Dog’, a 23-year-old of West Dinsley Gardens, Trincity, was arrested by officers of the Northern Division Task Force Area Central, during an anti-crime exercise in the Arouca district on Tuesday 13th June, 2018.

The exercise took place between 12:00pm and 6:00pm, and was supervised by ASP (Ag.) Mervin Edwards and Sgt. Ishmael Pitt.

During the exercise, officers observed a man behaving suspiciously along 9th Street, Dinsley Gardens.

The man attempted to escape, but was held a short distance away.

A search resulted in officers discovering one Tangfolio pistol, loaded with a magazine containing 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Walcott was subsequently arrested and conveyed to the Arouca Police Station and charged by PC Narvin Baboolal.
