India's president sends Independence Day greetings

President of India Pranab Mukherjee has sent greetings to the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago on the eve of Independence Day. 

In a message to the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona, SC, ORTT,  the Indian President has said, “On behalf of Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, it is with great pleasure that I convey to you and to the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago warm greetings and felicitations on the occasion of your National Day.

"The relations between India and Trinidad and Tobago have traditionally been warm and friendly. We greatly value our mutually beneficial bilateral ties and are confident that with our strong commitment and endeavours, these will be strengthened and enhanced in the years to come.

I take this opportunity to convey to Your Excellency, my best wishes for your personal well-being and for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Trinidad and Tobago.”

Trinidad and Tobago celebrates 54 years of Independence on Wednesday.
