An 11-year-old girl, Evha Jannath tragically died after falling from a ride into the Splash Canyon river rapids at Drayton Manor theme park in Staffordshire, United Kingdom.
She was on a trip to the theme park with her school, Jame'ah Girls Academy private school in Leicester and was said to have 'nearly missed out on the school trip because she did not have the right clothing' and had to borrow from the school.
It was reported that she stood up to switch seats just as the ride hit a rock, and fell over into the five (5) foot deep water.
Students and a teacher screamed out for help to which the park staff rushed to aid and a few minutes later, an air ambulance- which rushed her to a children’s hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators are looking into whether she might have hit her head on a raft behind as she fell.
Both the school and the family run park which opened in 1949, have remained closed to pay respects to the family who is being supported by specially trained officers.
Park Director, George Bryan, held back tears in a press conference saying "We are all shocked and devastated and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this tremendously difficult time."
