Port-of-Spain Magistrate Christine Charles has denied bail to businesswaoman Vicky Boodram on 40 charges of fraud and has remanded her to prison cutody.
Boodram appeared this morning to answer the 40 charges, together with 138 charges that had previously been laid against her.
She has been accused of defrauding and attempting to defraud several individuals and companies of close to $1 million between 2012 and January 2016.
The offences are said to have been committed while she was out on bail.
Boodram, 41, was not called upon to enter pleas to any of the offences.
Police prosecutor Sgt Callister Charles told Magistrate Charles that the State was objecting to bail, given that police could not locate her at several addresses she had given to them in the past.
Boodram was not represented by an attorney in court.
