Communication officials for national football captain Kenwyne Jones, says that contrary to reports, he will not be lining up with central FC for their Concacaf Premier League match against Vancouver Whitecaps tonight.
Jones, who recently signed for Atlanta United, is still in the process as being secured by Central FC on loan.
The following is a statement issued by Jones' communications team.
"Unfortunately, Kenwyne will not play in Central F.C.'s season-opening match carded for this evening, Tuesday 2 August 2016 against visiting Vancouver Whitecaps at the Ato Boldon Stadium from 8:00pm, as was previously reported in the media.
The club, whose Managing Director is Mr. Brent Sancho, is working assiduously to complete the final stages of receiving international clearance for the striker, and is in contact with the relevant parties to ensure that the process is completed as smoothly as possible and in accordance with CONCACAF regulations. We continue to respect all rules and regulations set in place by our football governing bodies.
As always, Kenwyne remains committed to a transparent, transitional process, and he looks forward to returning to active duty and joining The Sharks, as soon as he is granted international clearance to play."
