New 400 metres national record holder Machel Cedenio, is thanking Trinidad and Tobago for the support he received at the Rio Olympics, where he just missed out on a medal with a 4th place finish in the 400 metres lap.
Cedenio posted the thanks on his Instagram page, "machel75" together with a picture of him on the track.
"I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to all those who supported me throughout my journey to the Olympics," he says.
"My family, friends, fans, coaches, NAAA, TTOC, MSYA and the Media. My love goes out to all those who had confidence in my abilities and talent. Although I did not attain my ultimate goal in this showing, I plan to continue working even harder, knowing that I can rely on your continued support to make T&T a prouder nation," he added.
Cedenio won both his heat and semi-final races before finishing fourth in the final.
He is one of only three T&T athletes to have qualified for a final by Monday afternoon.
The other were Cleopatra Borel in the shot put and Michelle-Lee Ahye in the Women's 100 metres.
