Man arrested on airport tarmac after breaching perimeter fence

A man who breached the perimeter fence at the Piarco International Airport last night has been arrested after being intercepted by security officers attached to the Airports Authority.

He has been identified as David Ector Err of Carapo.

He was detained in the vicinity of Gate 14 on the tarmac of the airport.

Officer spotted the man on the tarmac around 9.45 pm.

He claimed that he had been attacked in the vicinity of the University of Trinidad and Tobago's ECIAF campus and eluded his attackers by jumping the perimeter fence somewhere along the eastern sector of the airport.

He told officers that he then made his way in the dark until he was spotted in the Security Restricted Area.

He will appear before an Arima magistrate today.
