Keron James, a labourer employed with the Ministry of Works, appeared before an Arima Magistrate today, charged with the murder of Arouca mini-mart owner, Lleron Alexander.
The accused, 24, of Never Dirty, Morvant, who was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, stood before Senior Magistrate Gillian Scotland, in the Arima 1st Magistrates’ Court, to answer the charges.
The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday 14th June, 2017.
Alexander, 26, of Eastern Main Road, Arouca, was at his business place, LA Mini-Mart, on May 9th, 2017, when he was approached by a gunman and shot at twice.
He was taken to hospital, where he died from gunshot wounds, on May 10th, 2017. Eyewitnesses to the attack had subdued the suspect and handed him over to officers at the Arouca Police Station.
James was charged by PC Schankar Bedassie of Homicide Region 2, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC, on Tuesday 16th May, 2017.
