A 21-year-old Carapo man was shot and killed in what police believe to be a gang-related murder.
The victim is identified as Kiedan Phillip.
Police say around 10 15 last evening, Phillip was liming with a group of men along Simon Road when they were approached by four armed men who wore masks.
An eyewitness told police that the armed men opened fire.
Residents claimed they scattered for their lives along with the other members in the group who were liming while gunshots continued to ring out.
The residents later ventured out and discovered Phillip's body lying motionless in a pool of blood and immediately contacted the police.
The body was viewed by the district medical officer who ordered its removal to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy on Friday.
Investigators said the area was filled with gang-related activity in the Carapo community.
Police said there was an ongoing war between Muslims and members of the 'Rasta City' gang.
Senior officers said they will intensified operations in the area.
Homicide officers are continuing investigations.
