Over one thousand five hundred tickets have been issued to motorists for breaking the speed limit.
The information comes from the coordinator of the police service safety project SRP Brent Batson.
Batson says since the speed limit was enforced by the use of speed guns, motorists are by and large obeying the speed limit.
However, one thousand five hundred and thirty-nine drivers have been penalised for exceeding the speed limit.
Batson is calling on persons to exercise caution on the nation's roadways and observe the speed limit, warning that errant drivers will face the brunt of the law.
His comment comes on the heels of a weekend in which seven accidents were recorded, one of which claimed the life of a Tunapuna man
