The House of Representatives will be called back from recess once again on Monday to debate the nomination of Gary Griffith as Commissioner of Police.
A statement by Minister of Planning and Development, Camille Robinson Regis confirmed the sitting for Monday 30th July.
"In my capacity as Leader of Government Business in the House of Representatives I wish to advise that the Speaker has received the Notification of Her Excellency Paula Mae Weekes of the nomination by the Police Service Commission of Mr. Gary Griffith for the position of Commissioner of Police.
I wish to advise further that as a consequence of receipt of this Notification the Order Paper has been issued to members for a sitting of the House of Representatives on Monday the 30th day of July, 2018, at 1.30 pm. The only business to be transacted will be debate on the Motion
“Be it Resolved that the Notification of the President of the nomination by the Police Service Commission of Mr. Gary Griffith to the office Commissioner of Police be approved”.
This is the second time that members of Parliament have been asked to sit during the recess, both to discuss nominations to the post of Police Commissioner.
