Penal man to appear in court charged with possession of ammunition

Joseph Wood a 36-year-old labourer of Beckles Street, Penal is expected to appear before the Siparia Magistrates' Court today charged with possession of ammunition.

Woods was arrested after a search warrant for arms and ammunition was executed at his home during an anti-crime exercise on August 22nd.

According to police reports during the exercise, officers attached to the Penal Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and South Western Division Task Force, executed the warrant around 9:55 am, which resulted in them discovering a bag containing six rounds of .38 Special ammunition, hidden under a chicken coop behind the house. 

Wood was arrested and charged by PC Gopee Bisnath, of the Penal CID, in connection with the find.
