PM departs for New York, urges citizens to remain vigilant

With T&T under tropical storm warning, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley departed for New York where he is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly.
In a press statement from the Office of the Prime Minister, Dr. Rowley encouraged citizens to “heed the warnings and alerts from the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management and the Meteorological Office.”
A tropical system Invest 99L increased in strength overnight prompting the National Hurricane Centre to place T&T & Grenada under tropical storm warning.
Dr. Rowley said “the Cabinet remains alert to the developing situation and stands ready to respond.”
He says the government is working through various agencies to take “all necessary steps to prepare for the impact of Tropical Storm Karen.”
Finance Minister Colm Imbert will act as Prime Minister until Dr. Rowley returns.
