Police destroy 200 marijuana trees, 3000 seedlings

Police have destroyed 200 fully grown marijuana trees and 3000 seedlings worth $300,000.

The Police Service issued the following statement on it's latest operation.

"Between the hours of 2:00am on Friday 29th July 2016 and 1:15am on Tuesday 2nd August 2016, Inspector Saunders, Cpl Nurse along with a party of officers attached to the Western Division Task Force, Driving Under the Influence Task Force, St. James Police Station and Criminal Investigations Department, West End and Four Roads Police Station conducted several anti-crime exercises in the St. James, Maracas, Maraval, Carenage and Beetham Gardens districts.

During the anti-crime exercises 9 Fixed Penalty Notices were issued, 85 Field Interviews and 86 Field Sobriety Tests were conducted, 1 warrant was executed and 7 persons were arrested for various offences which included rape, driving under the influence and store breaking and larceny.

The officers also found and destroyed 200 fully grown marijuana trees and 3000 seedlings with a street value of $300,000.000. No one was arrested Investigations are continuing.

In another incident around 10:30am on Monday 1st August 2016, Cpl Dominique along with a party of officers attached to the Western Division Task Force acted upon information received and proceeded to Bagatelle Road, Diego Martin where they conducted a search.

During the search the officers found and seized 1 revolver and rounds .357 ammunition. No one was arrested. WPC George is continuing investigations.

These exercises were spearheaded by Ag. Supt Adams, Ag. ASP Prescott and Sgt Copper."
