Police destroy marijuana trees valued at $150,000

Fully grown marijuana trees with an estimated street value of $150,000, were uprooted and destroyed during an anti-crime exercise, conducted by officers of the Gasparillo Police Station in the Williamsville district, over the weekend.

The exercise, spearheaded by Insp. Subhas Ramkhelawan, supervised by Sgt. Rennie Maraj and including W/Cpl Natasha Charles, was conducted between 10:00am and 4:00pm, on Saturday 11th March, 2018.

Acting on information, the officers proceeded to a forested area, four miles off the Williamsville Main Road, around 1:00pm, where they came upon a marijuana field with 150 fully grown marijuana trees, which were subsequently destroyed.

The officers also recovered two 12 gauge cartridges and two 16 gauge cartridges in the vicinity of the field.

No arrest was made in connection with the finds.
