Over $13 million in marijuana has been destroyed by police during an eradication exercise, a statement by the Police Service says.
Officers attached to the Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau (ONFCB) conducted the exercise between the hours of 7:30 am and 2:30 pm on Tuesday 21st March, 2017 in the Grand Chemin, Moruga Forest, Moruga.
The officers, assisted by the Police Air Support Unit and the Southern Division Task Force, discovered two camps on a 1 ½ acres field, containing approximately 12,000 fully grown marijuana trees and 250 pounds of cured marijuana.
The fully grown trees and cured marijuana, with a combined estimated street value of TT$13.14 million, were destroyed.
No arrests have been made.
