Police have launched an investigation into a viral video showing six students of the Diego Martin North Secondary School smoking what appears to be marijuana.
Minister of Education, Anthony Garcia told a media conference this morning that Police Commissioner Gary Griffith wrote to him saying that the police have identified the school and would be conducting inquiries.
Minister Garcia said that Griffith contacted him again, to say that police officers from the West End Police Station and personnel from the Child Protection Unit visited the school and spoke to the principal.
He said the police investigation is now underway.
Minister Garcia said that the principal has suspended the students for seven days and will make a recommendation of an extension suspension while the Education Ministry's investigation takes place.
The principal has also agreed to conduct lectures at school to ensure there is no recurrence of such incidents.
