Police officers train to use tasers

Nineteen instructors from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) Police Academy and six from the Guard and Emergency Branch, have received formal training in both the use of taser devices and instructing others in the use of tasers.

The Police Service says the training for the instructors forms part of its ongoing thrust to utilize non-lethal devices, in keeping with the Minimum Use of Force Policy.

The training sessions were conducted at the Police Academy, St James, by Taser Master Instructor, Captain Mario Knapps, of the Miami/Dade Police Training Academy, on Monday 11th March, 2019 and Tuesday 12th March, 2019, following a six-hour online pre-training session.
