Police say they're investigating "new information" in teacher's kidnapping

Police investigating the kidnapping of teacher Keston Mahabir say they have received new information which they are working on at this time.

Mahabir, of Pitman Trace, McBean Village, Couva, was abducted from his home last Wednesday.

Today police told CNC3 news, they have interviewed several people in relation to the crime.

However they say his whereabouts remain a mystery.

Over 300 people have arrested in one week by the police service.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Carlton Alleyne said these arrests occurred during exercises, carried out mainly over the recent holiday period.

Speaking at the police press conference today ASP Alleyne said, in addition to the arrests, several illegal weapons were also seized.
