Police seize gun, ammunition in exercises in Beetham & Carapichaima

Officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force have seized 22 rounds of .357 ammunition during a mobile patrol along Main Street, Beetham Gardens.

Around 7:15pm on Wednesday 22nd March, 2017, the officers observed a group of men standing in the roadway and upon approaching them, the men ran off. 

The officers gave chase. However, the men eluded capture.

A search was conducted where the men were standing and a plastic bottle containing 22 rounds of .357 ammunition was found and seized. 

No arrests were made. 

Meanwhile, Central Division Task Force officers have discovered and seized a firearm and a quantity of ammunition, while conducting an anticrime exercise.

Based on information received, the officers executed the search in Brick Field Village, Waterloo Road, Carapichaima between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm on Wednesday 22nd March, 2017.

The search led to the discovery of a black pouch containing a black .45 calibre pistol, fitted with a firearm magazine and loaded with six rounds of .45 calibre ammunition, under a rusting sheet of galvanize.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.  

The exercise was conducted under the supervision of Snr. Supt.McIntyre.
