Sales clerk charged in $360,000 Cabo Star drug bust

A Mason Hall man, who is alleged to have transported $360,000 worth of marijuana from Trinidad to Tobago aboard the Cabo Star on Monday, is expected to appear before a Scarborough Magistrate today, charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Rodney Rooplal, 36, a sales clerk of Sandy River, Mason Hall, was arrested by officers of the Scarborough CID, at the Scarborough Port, around 8:30 pm on Monday, after disembarking the ferry.

The white panel van he was driving was stopped and searched, which resulted in officers discovering 10 rectangular packets containing six kilogrammes of marijuana.

Rooplal, was charged on Tuesday 3rd April, 2018, by PC Kernel Dates of the Scarborough Task Force.
