The San Fernando City Council is warning dog owners in the city, to secure their animals on Wednesday night, when a fireworks display will take place to celebrate the anniversary of Independence.
The corporation has issued the following statement on the matter.
"His Worship the Mayor Alderman Haji Kazim Hosein, Aldermen and Councillors of the San Fernando City Council wish to inform the public that there will be a fireworks display on San Fernando Hill on Wednesday 31 August, 2016 at 8:30 pm to celebrate our nation’s 54th year of Independence.
Given that loud noises may be upsetting to animals, the Mayor and Members of Council urge citizens to secure their pets at least thirty minutes prior to the beginning of the display to ensure the safety and comfort of all our four-legged family members.
The Council expresses sincere thanks to Petrotrin for its generous sponsorship, and to Firepower Fireworks for hosting the display. Their contribution to the commemoration of Independence Day is truly demonstrative of their pride in our nation, and is a great example for all citizens of the spirit of volunteerism that makes up the lifeblood of the city of San Fernando.
Do enjoy the fireworks display and have a wonderful Independence Day."
