T&T's hockey men were given a rude awakening in their opening Indoor World Cup match against the Czech Republic on Wednesday morning, losing 7-2.
Within the first ten minutes of the game, T&T found itself 4-0 down. Jakub Kyndl opened the scoring in the third minute while David Vacek doubled the lead a mere minute after. Two minutes later in the sixth minute, Lukas Plochy made it 3-0 to the Czechs.
Then, in the ninth minute, Kyndl scored his second and the Czech Republic's fourth goal. It only got worse when in the 14th minute, Tomas Prochazka put his name on the score sheet. Two minutes later, Martin Seeman made it 6-0.
Vacek would return to polish off the Czech's performance with a goal in the 28th minute. T&T had two late consolation field goals from Shaquille Daniel and Kristien Emmanuel.
The local boys will now take on Poland from 2:30pm (TT time) in their second World Cup match.
