It's back. Kirk, which went from a Tropical Storm to a Tropica Depression over the last few days, is once again a Tropical Storm Kirk is about 415 miles east of Barbados, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 mph, according to the 8 a.m. advisory Wednesday from the National Hurricane Center.
It is about 535 miles east-southeast of Martinique.
Tropical-storm warnings have been issued for Barbados, St. Lucia, Dominica, Guadeloupe and Martinique.
Kirk, which is headed to the northern Windward Islands, has prompted tropical-storm warnings for Barbados and St. Lucia in the Lesser Antilles and tropical-storm watches for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
“Little change in strength is forecast until Kirk moves through the central Lesser Antilles Thursday afternoon and evening,’’ the hurricane center said. “Rapid weakening is expected on Friday after Kirk emerges over the Caribbean Sea.’’
Kirk is moving west at 18 mph.
