Two men are expected to appear before a Siparia Magistrate tomorrow, charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, following the seizure of TT$6.25Mn in marijuana; the largest narcotics haul for 2018, thus far.
Kevon Theodore Saitoo, 36, a watchman, of Partap Trace, South Oropouche and Dawuud Hood, 36, a labourer, of Reid Lane, Belmont, were charged by PC Sholto Sookram, of Erin Police Station, on Wednesday 7th February, 2018.
The accused were arrested during an anti-crime exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Neville Adams, of the South Western Division, around 7:30am, on Tuesday 6th February, 2018, in the Santa Flora district.
During the exercise, the officers intercepted a white panel van, with two male occupants, along the SS Erin Road, in the vicinity of Flyover Junction.
A search of the vehicle resulted in 26 crocus bags containing 461 kilogrammes of marijuana being discovered.
The men were arrested in connection with the find.
