A Valencia man pleaded not guilty to robbery with violence against a 41- year-old man, after appearing before a Sangre Grande Magistrate, to answer to the charge.
Cordell Adams, 24, of Valencia Old Road, Valencia, was remanded into custody after appearing before the Sangre Grande 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday 24th July, 2018.
The matter has been postponed to Tuesday 21st August, 2018.
Around 6:30am on Saturday 21st July, 2018, the victim, a PH driver, was plying his blue Nissan Cube motor vehicle for hire when he picked up a male passenger.
The man told the driver to proceed to Tapana Road, Valencia.
Upon arrival, the offender whipped out a firearm and announced a robbery.
The suspect proceeded to strike the victim about his head and forced him out of the vehicle, before driving off with it.
The vehicle was later discovered by officers of the Chaguanas Police Station parked in front of a house at Savannah Heights, Chaguanas.
Adams, who was in the house at the time, was arrested and conveyed to the Valencia Police Post on Saturday 21st July, 2018.
WPC Nichel Bishop, of the Valencia Criminal Investigation Department, laid the charge.
