WASA restores service to North Trinidad

The Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty says it has re­stored ser­vice to some part of North Trinidad served by the Ca­roni Wa­ter Treat­ment Plant af­ter com­plet­ing re­pairs to the blown air valve along the 48-inch di­am­e­ter Ca­roni North Trans­mis­sion Main in Pi­ar­co.

In a re­lease Fri­day morn­ing, WASA said the re­pairs were com­plet­ed and the sup­ply re­opened at ap­prox­i­mate­ly 9.30 am.

It said the trans­mis­sion sys­tem is be­ing recom­mis­sioned to pro­vide a pipe-borne wa­ter sup­ply to af­fect­ed ar­eas. How­ev­er, it point­ed out that it may take be­tween 24 to 48 hours for the ser­vice to nor­malise to some ar­eas.

WASA al­so said some cus­tomers may ex­pe­ri­ence some dis­coloura­tion in their wa­ter sup­ply as the ser­vice is re­stored. This will be due to sys­tem flush­ing ex­er­cis­es. It said cus­tomers ex­pe­ri­enc­ing such a sup­ply should al­low their wa­ter to run un­til it clears.
