The Airports Authority says an officer whose letter of suspension has been the subject of scrutiny in the public domain, acted discourteously and fell below the standard of professional judgement and customer service expected.
The AATT issued a statement on the matter Monday evening.
"Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (AATT) wishes to address the contents of a letter, currently circulating on social media, regarding the suspension of Estate Constable Kelvon Alexander, a member of the Authority’s Security Force.
A man who breached the perimeter fence at the Piarco International Airport last night has been arrested after being intercepted by security officers attached to the Airports Authority.
He has been identified as David Ector Err of Carapo.
He was detained in the vicinity of Gate 14 on the tarmac of the airport.
Officer spotted the man on the tarmac around 9.45 pm.
The Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (AATT) is advising that there will be an interruption in vehicular traffic flow on Wednesday along the public roadway giving access to Kilgwyn Bay in Tobago to facilitate easy access by emergency response agencies.
This is as a result of a full-scale emergency exercise to take place at the ANR Robinson International Airport in Crown Point.
A statement by the AATT says the police will be controlling and directing traffic accordingly.
The Airports Authority has announced that the two security checkpoints at the departure halls of the Piarco International Airport are being merged into one, from midnight tonight.
ATTT believes this will ease waiting times in lines and offer a more customer friendly experience.
