Debe Exit accident kills father and son

A father and son are this country's latest road fatalities after a late evening accident claimed the lives of the two men and left one man in critical condition.
According to reports just before 10 pm on Wednesday at the exit of Debe Highway, the vehicle ran off the road. 
A video later surfaced on Social Media showing the unconscious men pinned to the destroyed vehicle. One man is heard in the background saying, "they just pass me there you know".

Man killed in early morning accident

One man has been killed in an early morning crash.

Police say the victim identified as Roger D'Abreau was the front seat passenger in a car driven by friend Garcia when it slammed into a wall, then crashed into a post in Arouca.

Officers say D'Abreau died instantly, while the driver escaped serious injury.

They suspect the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

Investigations are continuing.


Police officer killed in early morning accident

PC Heston Davidson attached to the Northern Division Task Force, Area West, has died following a motor vehicular accident which occurred along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway (CRH) early this morning. 

Davidson, who was the lone occupant of his silver Nissan B14 motor vehicle, was proceeding east along the CRH, around 1:00 am, on December 27th when the car struck a median and subsequently collided with a tree, in the vicinity of the Devon Biscuit Factory, Arima. 

He died at the scene. 

Officers in crash to be banned from driving police vehicles

Two police officers involved in a vehicular accident in Central Trinidad today will no longer be allowed to drive while on duty.

This afternoon in the Chin Chin area, two police Rav 4 vehicles being driven at a high speed, slammed into a three-tonnne truck which was merging onto the main road.

While the police vehicles had the right-of-way, police sources tell us they were driving at around 90 km per hour on the main road.

We were also told that the officers were not responding to a distress call but were merely returning from carrying a vehicle for maintenance.

Woman knocked down and killed in City Gate

A woman has been knocked down and killed in City Gate.

She has been identified as Wendy Wescott, 57.

Reports seem to suggest that the woman was walking behind a maxi-taxi when the driver reversed and hit her.

Videos circulating on social media show the woman lying motionless on the floor, bleeding.

In another video, a man can be heard saying that he was not aware that the woman was behind her.

Police are on the scene and are investigating the death.

Woman killed in road accident

An early morning accident has claimed the life of a woman.

Reports indicate that around 6 am the woman was proceeding along the Tarouba Link Road in San Fernando when she lost control and slammed into a concrete barrier.

The woman was pinned behind the steering wheel of her White Nissan AD Wagon motor vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.


Venezuelan killed crossing road

Six months ago, Al­ber­to Car­ril­lo left his wife and three chil­dren in Venezuela to come to this coun­try in search of work.

Car­ril­lo got a job as a loader on an ice de­liv­ery truck and was mak­ing de­liv­er­ies in Man­zanil­la last Fri­day when he was knocked down by a car and killed.

Car­ril­lo’s lo­cal co-work­er, who wit­nessed the in­ci­dent, who on­ly iden­ti­fied him­self as Mi­tra, said that around 6 pm they stopped along the Man­zanil­la-Ma­yaro Road for Car­ril­lo to uri­nate.

Accident causes downtown PoS gridlock

A mi­nor ac­ci­dent near the Cen­tral Bank Tow­ers in Port-of-Spain ear­li­er to­day caused a mas­sive traf­fic pile­up in the down­town parts of the cap­i­tal.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, two cars col­lid­ed at the bot­tom of Ed­ward Street, just be­fore where it in­ter­sects with South Quay head­ing east. One of the ve­hi­cles end­ed up on top of the oth­er and was un­able to move.
