Arouca man arrested with ammunition, marijuana
One man was arrested and quantities of ammunition and marijuana seized, by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise, in the Arouca district, over the weekend.
Officers were on mobile patrol in Windy Hill, Arouca, around 5:20 pm, on Saturday, when they observed a man walking along the roadway, acting in a suspicious manner.
The man was stopped and a search conducted.
The search resulted in 30 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition and 10 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, as well as 50 grammes of marijuana, being discovered in his possession.

Double murder in Arouca
Police are still at the scene of a double murder in Arouca.
The murder took place this morning.
Police were notified that the bodies of two men were discovered in a house.
Officers proceeded to the establishment along Windy Hill.
Upon arrival, they discovered the men lying in pools of blood.
Their bodies bore several gunshot wounds.
The deceased men have been identified as Lyndon Sutherland and Shevron Clarke.
Investigations are ongoing.

Morvant man in court for murder of Arouca mini-mart owner
Keron James, a labourer employed with the Ministry of Works, appeared before an Arima Magistrate today, charged with the murder of Arouca mini-mart owner, Lleron Alexander.
The accused, 24, of Never Dirty, Morvant, who was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, stood before Senior Magistrate Gillian Scotland, in the Arima 1st Magistrates’ Court, to answer the charges.
The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday 14th June, 2017.

After residents' intervention, police charge man for Arouca mini mart murder
Police have charged a man with the murder of an Arouca mini mart proprietor.
Keron James is charged with the murder of Lleron Alexander and will appear before Arima Court today.
Alexander was killed when a gunman entered his shop on May 9th.
The accused was held by villagers and handed over to Arouca Police.

Two men held with estimated $18 million in cocaine in Arouca
Police have arrested two men in Arouca with an estimated $18 million worth of cocaine.
The information on the arrest is still not clear but reports indicate that they were held at a house on Davis Street, Arouca this morning.
The cocaine is said to have weighed 13 kilogrammes.
One of the men held is said to have been charged in September 2009 with the possession of 20 kilogrammes of marijuana.

Son of former police commissioner shot dead
The son of former Commissioner of Police Kenny Mohammed has been killed in a home invasion.
Reports indicate that Nizam Mohammed was at his home at Lillian Heights, off the Old Road in Arouca.
A group of armed men reportedly stormed the premises and opened fire.
The family was robbed last week, two firearms were taken in that incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Murder in Arouca
An Arouca man has been shot dead.
Reports indicate that on Wednesday evening Akiel Mitchel was at Windy Hill, Arouca when a gunman approached and opened fire.
Mitchell was shot about the body and was killed on the spot.
The police were called in and combed the crime scene. Investigations are ongoing.

Human skull and bones found
A human skull and pieces of bones were discovered yesterday in a forested area in Arouca.
CNC3 news understands that the discovery was made by a hunter who subsequently notified the police.
The skeleton was found in the same area where a male corpse was discovered last Thursday.
Murder in Arouca
Police are investigating the shooting death of a man at the corner of Ford and Perkin streets in Arouca.
The shooting occurred just after 4pm today.
Police are on the scene and have not yet released details of the man's identity.
