CAL flight attendant arrested with gun, ammunition

A male flight attendant employed with Caribbean Airlines Limited and a woman, were arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Eastern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in Sangre Grande over the weekend, police said in a statement.

Officers conducted the exercise around 8 pm on Sunday 31st December, 2017, during which they had cause to search a black Audi A4 motor vehicle which was parked with two occupants opposite the Sangre Grande Police Station.

Police arrest Cubans camping outside UN building

A group of Cuban nationals who have been protesting outside the United Nations’ office in Port-of-Spain has been arrested.

The five women and four men, all of Cuban nationality were arrested just after 5.30 Wednesday afternoon and are expected to be charged with obstruction of a public passageway.

Police corporal charged with assault on Guardian Newspaper photographer

Corporal Billy Ramsundar is tonight charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Guardian photographer Kristian De Silva, a police statement said Wednesday.

He is also charged with malicious damage of a Canon camera valued US$1600.

The charges arise from an alleged incident at Nazim Ave San Francique, Penal on September 15, 2017.

He will appear before a POS Magistrate where the matter will be transferred to the Siparia Court.

The charges were laid by Supt Ruthven Hodge of the Police Complaints Division.

Morvant couple to be charged with murder of Dr Claire Broadbridge

A Morvant couple is due to be charged with the murder of museum director Dr Claire Broadbridge on September 2nd this year.

Police confirmed the new development in social media postings on Twitter.

One tweet states that the DPP late this evening advised on the charge against a 34-year-old joiner and his 32-year-old common-law wife of Seales Avenue.

On Saturday, September 2nd, residents of the St Ann's observed smoke coming from Broadbridge’s home and notified the authorities.

A man who was not known to them was observed fleeing the scene.

16 to spend long-weekend behind bars following police exercises in Central

Sixteen persons were arrested during anti-crime exercises in the Central Division, which also saw the seizure of firearms, ammunition and narcotics, a police statement said.

A total of eight exercises were conducted between 11:35 am and 8:00 pm on Wednesday 14th June, 2017, by officers of the Central Division Task Force, Chaguanas CID, Freeport CID and Canine Branch.

Officers, acting on information, first proceeded to Mulchan Seuchan Road, Chaguanas, where they arrested a 36-year-old tradesman, of Petit Valley.

$15.3 million cocaine bust in La Romaine

An anti-crime exercise in the Southern Division, has resulted in the seizure of $15.3 million worth in cocaine and the arrest of four men, including a Colombian national.

Officers of the San Fernando Task Force, CID and Transnational Organised Crime Unit, conducted the exercise, coordinated by Snr Supt (Ag.), Zamsheed Mohammed, between 12 noon and 10 pm, on Tuesday 11th April, 2017, in the La Romaine area.

Police arrest suspect in St Joseph double-murder

Police have detained a suspect in connection with the shooting death of Kerlan "Mice Man" George and Shameer Ali in St Joseph last weekend.

The duo was gunned down mere meters from the St Joseph Police Station.

Police conducted a series of exercises on the north coast from maracas to las Cuevas last night during which they held the suspect.

He is reputed to be a known gang leader who has been before the court of firearm offences.

Viral video helps police capture murder suspect

Police are commending members of the public for sharing a video of the shooting death of Marvin Bridgeman, which they say held lead to the arrest of a suspect.

A statement from the Police Service says the social media spread of the video caused members of the public to contact the police.

Farmer among 32 arrested in police exercises

Police have arrested 32 people for various offences, including driving under the influence.

They've also seized one gun and three rounds of ammunition.

Chow vendor arrested on Independence Square

City police were busy this afternoon, cracking down on illegal vending in the capital city.

The police drew a large crowd of onlookers around 11.30 this morning when they arrested a female 'chow' vendor and seized her food cart.

Police say the woman was arrested for selling marketable goods without a food badge and also for resisting arrest and blocking traffic.
