The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) says it is monitoring recent incidents in which mentally-challenged persons were shot by police officers.
The PCA says it intends to audit the current investigations into these shootings.
The following is the PCA's statement on the matter:
"The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) is aware of several incidents involving fatal and nonfatal police related shootings involving mentally ill individuals Paul Marchan, Daniel Paul and Edison Thompson within the last four (4) months.
One of the state companies accused of financing a slander campaign against Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley during the last general election will be audited.
This was revealed by the Prime Minister during a meeting in San Fernando on Tuesday.
According to Dr Rowley, the Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, has received the directive to commence an audit into the National Lotteries Control Board to determine if people received money illegally.

The reference made by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley that Opposition Senator attorney Gerald Ramdeen was a “person of great interest” to the State was in the context of an ongoing audit being conducted by the Attorney General’s office.
AG Faris Al-Rawi emphasised that neither his office nor that of the PM had the authority to probe anyone, adding that was the role of the police.
