Anthony Sabga Caribbean Awards celebrates 10th ceremony in Jamaica

Four laureates including Jamaican writer, Kei Miller, were inducted by the Anthony N Sabga Caribbean Awards for Excellence at its first awards ceremony to be staged in Jamaica on Saturday night at the Pegasus hotel.

The ceremony also included a performance by famed Jamaican singer Tessanne Chin who rendered her song Try.

The Caribbean Awards have been in existence since 2005, and this was its tenth ceremony. The programme was initiated by the late Trinidadian entrepreneur Dr Anthony N Sabga in 2005.

Speaking at the 2017 Anthony N Sabga Caribbean Awards for Excellence in Georgetown on Saturday night, Guyanese vice-president, Sydney Allicock, presented solid evidence of the Awards’ value.

Entertainment: Drake to host inaugural NBA Awards

Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor - Drake will host the first NBA Awards June 6th at Pier 36’s Basketball City in New York.

The show marks the first time the NBA will hand out its coveted individual performance awards during a single ceremony. Along with Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year and other top awards, the NBA will add additional categories for the show, including fan-voted awards. Categories and finalists will be announced April 27th during Inside the NBA.

Zoolander 2, Batman vs Superman top nominations for 2017 Razzies - worst films of the year

Zoolander 2 has earned a whopping nine nominations including Worst Picture, Worst Actor, and Worst Director for Ben Stiller in the 2017 Razzies, "awards" given to the worse films of the year.

It's also been nominated for Worst Supporting Actress for Kristen Wiig and Worst Supporting Actor for both Will Ferrell and Owen Wilson.

Coming in a close second was Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with eight nominations.

T&T wins multiple regional destination awards, including Best Honeymoon Islands

Trinidad and Tobago has won multiple awards in the Caribbean World Travel & Living Awards 2016, a statement by the Tourism Development Company (TDC) says.

The TDC says Trinidad and Tobago placed first in three categories, beating four other nominees also vying for the top spot in each category:

* Best Honeymoon Islands of the Year

* Best Golf Islands of the Year

* Best Carnival Islands of the Year
