The founder and former political leader of the National Joint Action Committee (NJAC) and long time activist Makandal Daaga has died.
Daaga had been ailing over the past year from a number of complications.
He had suffered several strokes and quite recently an attack of the flu further weakened his immune system.
He died at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital at 1.35pm.
Daaga was most recently known as one of the five leaders of the People's Partnership that formed the government on May 24th, 2010.
