Police have held a 21-year-old Cascade man for allegedly raping a 12-year-old schoolboy on Saturday.
The arrest was made around 10 pm last night by officers of the Port of Spain Criminal Investigations Division (CID).
Reports suggest that the man approached the boy, who was walking in Port-of-Spain following a lessons class, and forced the child into a vehicle at gunpoint on Saturday.
The child was taken to an unknown location where he was sexually assaulted.
The suspect is said to have dropped off the boy at Lady Young Road and sped off.
Police are now investigating the death of an eight-year-old boy, who reportedly succumbed to injuries he sustained after being beaten with an iron pipe by a close relative yesterday.
Ishmeel Phillips, of Rydale Avenue, Greenvale Park, La Horquetta, collapsed in an unconscious state at his home after the beating. He was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex Paediatrics Emergency Department by police constable Thaddeus Caraballo.
Police are seeking the urgent assistance of the public in locating 12-year-old Israel Crichlow.
Israel, was last seen at his Simpson Brown Terrace, Cocoyea, home around 8:30am on Thursday 8th June, 2017.
He was reported missing to the Mon Repos Police Station, around 3:30pm on that same day, by his mother, Kiva Stephens. Israel is of mixed descent, 4 feet 8 inches tall, with a brown complexion and a low shaven hairstyle.

Parents are renewing their call for Government to fix the railings of the Fifth Company Baptist Primary school, after a Standard Two pupil fell over it last week, fracturing his skull.
School officials said Tisean Alexis, eight, was sliding down the railings around midday last Wednesday when he fell. However, his mother Curlanne Charleau claims her son was pushed.
