Brazilian police thwart possible ISIS attack during Olympics

Brazilian police have arrested 10 people accused of pledging allegiance to the Islamic State terror group who are believed to have been planning an attack on Rio de Janeiro during the Olympics.

The operation on Thursday morning, 15 days before the opening ceremony, was announced by the justice minister, Alexandre Moraes, at a press conference in Brasilia.

Moraes said that no specific target had been chosen for an attack.

Dr Amery Browne appointed Ambassador to Brazil, Argentina, Chile and more

The Office of the Prime Minister has announced that former Government Minister and Diego Martin Central MP Dr Amery Browne has been appointed as Ambassador to Brazil, Argentina and three other South American countries.

The Prime Minister's Office has also announced former La Brea MP Fitzgerald Jeffery as the High Commissioner to Jamaica.

T&T Olympic sailor Andrew Lewis injured in Brazil

T&T Olympic Laser Sailor Andrew Lewis has been injured following a fall at his apartment in Brazil, where he is preparing for next year's Olympic Games.

A statement from Team Andrew Lewis this afternoon, confirms that he is in a stable condition and is expected to make a speedy recovery.

The following is the statement issued to the media today.

"Olympic Laser Sailor Andrew Lewis is currently receiving medical treatment in Brazil, following an incident which took place on December 13th. 

Brazil crush T&T Women Soca Warriors 11-0

Five goals for the best female player of all time, Marta, as Brazil trounced Trinidad and Tobago's Women Soca Warriors by 11 goals to nil in the second game of the International Women’s Football Tournament hosted in the city of Natal.

The Soca Warriors were completed outdone as Brazil raced to a 4-nil lead at the end of the 1st half. They added five goals in just 18 minutes of the second half to move to 9-nil as they scored at will, eventually ending at 11 without reply at the Arena das Dunas.
